"Supporter for a Day – Let’s Cheer for Sport": a Summer Camp during the Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships
The Italian Canoe Kayak Federation, with the support of the Lombardy Region, is promoting the free Summer Camp "Supporter for a Day – Let’s Cheer for Sport", an educational and sporting initiative that will take place during the 2025 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships, scheduled from August 20 to 24 at the Idroscalo in Milan.
The activity is aimed at children and young people aged 8 to 12, who can register individually or through summer centers, sports associations (ASD/SSD), and social cooperatives operating in the Lombardy area. It’s an unmissable opportunity for young participants to enjoy days full of sport and fun in close contact with top-level athletes competing in the world championships, with the chance to meet them before the races and watch the competitions.
The initiative was created with the goal of bringing younger generations closer to paddle sports, promoting the values of fair play, respect for rules, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. The project is fully funded by the Lombardy Region and is part of a broader program of sports promotion activities connected to the world championship event.
The daily activity, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is divided into two phases. In the morning, participants will be introduced to all paddle sports, from kayaking to dragon boating, including stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and will use ergometers. After lunch, there will be environmental and inclusion workshops, meetings with national team athletes present on site, followed by a guided tour of the competition venue and the opportunity to watch the World Championship races. Registration includes a shuttle service – available by reservation – from metro stops, a midday lunch, and a fan kit consisting of a t-shirt, shorts, a recycled water bottle, and a bag. All registered participants will also receive a free membership to the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation.
